Department of Environment EnviroWild Program

The Environment and Wildlife (EnviroWild) Program promotes environmental education programs in the Yukon.

The EnviroWild team offers resources, activity kits, and professional development opportunities to Yukon teachers.  EnviroWild staff also offer classroom presentations on wildlife or environmental science topics, in addition to facilitating outdoor and experiential activities.

Get Outdoors guide

This educator’s guide supports teachers in getting their students outside and engaged in experiencing the outdoor classroom. Activities include hands-on mapping, values exploration and secondary level projects.

This guide includes “baby steps” for taking students outdoors – easy and powerful sensory awareness activities that help develop personal connections to nature.

It also contains teacher tip sheets and checklists covering group management, materials, field trip planners and the importance of the “100-Metre Field Trip”.
